Dr Nicholas Smith is an orthopaedic surgeon, specialising in Hand and Upper Extremity (including the Elbow and Shoulder) surgery.

His special interest are in:

  • adult thumb, hand and wrist problems;
  • children's hand surgery,
  • hand malformations and
  • neonatal brachial plexus palsy;
  • elbow problems and
  • sports injuries of the shoulder.  


He is associated with Specialty Orthopaedics, and operates out of Norwest Private and Macquarie University Hospitals; with consulting rooms at Parramatta, Bella Vista and Macquarie University.

He is also a Fellow of the:

  • New South Wales Hand Surgery Society;
  • Australian Hand Surgery Society;
  • Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia;
  • Australian Orthopaedic Association;
  • Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons;
  • Fellow Royal Australian College of Surgeons; and
  • Australian Medical Association.
